Three years ago, my husband, our son and I moved from western NY to Pennsylvania for my husband to attend pharmacy school. He's graduating in June and we're very ready to move back home! Being away from family is tough. We currently lease an old townhouse. It will be nice to have our own space to decorate and have more privacy. We've referred to many blogs from those who are building and have built a Ryan Home and they have been so beneficial during our selection process. I wanted to be able to help others in the same way.
We decided to build vs buy used because it was almost impossible to find something that had everything we were looking for. Our top priority was to be in an excellent school district. We wanted a colonial with a large updated kitchen with plenty of counter space, open floor plan, large yard, side entrance garage, dining rm, 4bdrms, at least 2 full baths, central AC, and the list goes on. We decided that building would be our best option and we are glad we chose to do it. We were able to get everything on our wish list and the way we want it, especially the great school district for our children.
Our loan was approved and we had our selection meeting. Our first PM meeting is scheduled for May 17th and the tentative date to break ground is 5/20!!! We chose "The Ravenna" because we loved the floor plan and the option for a colonial style. We chose elevation A with a side entrance garage. Here is our little man next to the sold sign on our lot!
Shawna, congratulations on your new dream home. Just take the time to choose all the things that are really important to you. We wished we would have done a three car garage for extra storage. They also will build a deeper garage for extra storage if you request it. I also wish we would have done our exterior siding a bit different among some other things but felt a bit rushed. Just take your time and enjoy. The building process goes by pretty quick once you break ground. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! We were wondering about the size of a 2-car garage and whether or not we'd have room for storage. I do feel like we felt very rushed during the selection process and they don't explain all the available options. Oh well! We'll definitely be asking about the garage during our PM meeting! Thanks again :)
DeleteCongratulations on your new home build. Don't hesitate to bring your concerns or requests to your PM
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tosha!

I would love to follow your journey and I am sure others will too! I have instructions on my blog that so that you can create a followers tab so that bloggers can follow your journey. Do not click the google+followers button that is something different. Be sure to scroll down to the next page until you see the Followers button.
Also, if you have not already done so, turn off the word verification button on your blog!! It makes bloggers decipher this weird word pattern before we can leave comments. Ugghh I can't tell until I send this message. THANKS a BUNCH!!
