Should we have received a detailed timeline?

We had our pre-construction meeting with our PM late last week and he did tell us that they would be knocking down trees early this week and digging and possibly pouring foundation by late this week. That's all the info we received regarding plans. I notice that many of the blogs I read have a detailed timeline of their building process. We're we supposed to get this info this early? If not, when do they usually inform us of what lies ahead? Unfortunately, we can't do frequent drive-bys since we live out of state :(

  1. Hey Shawna! So I just started following your blog, and we have a lot in common...Same model, looks like the same timeline as we were excavated today, we are in the same area, and we are also going VA. I am really interested in following your blog and seeing how our experiences compare :)

We didn't get a detailed timeline...but did your PM give you an estimated end date? Ours said August 13...so if you didn't get one I would imagine it would be similar.

    1. Hi there! I also noticed that we have so much in common! I'm very excited that we're building the same model and we're on an almost identical timeline! We did get an estimated completion date of the week of Aug 12th ;) I look forward to following your blog!

  2. We didn't get a detailed timeline, either. I think it all depends on your PM and how he/she rolls. Be sure you find out how to get in touch with him, and ask if he can send pictures or updates since you can't stalk daily or weekly, like some of the rest of us crazy bloggers. :) Congratulations on your beginning!

  3. We never got a detailed timeline either and it seems like each house is done differently depending on when each contractor is available so that's probably why they don't do it. I kept a timeline if you want to get an idea of major milestones: http://movingtothecountryryanhomes.blogspot.com/p/timeline.html

You will have a house before you know it!

  5. I did not see anybody mentioning anything about a detailed timeline being given to them. You could definitely check with your PM to see if we can at least give you some tentative dates...That would be very helpful.

Our PM gave us a Construction Process Road-map which does not have a "timeline" associated with it but he said it will help us see how we are doing and what stage we are at.... http://ryanhomeslincolnshire.blogspot.com/2013/05/construction-process-roadmap.html

He did give us a tentative date for final walk through and he said we will give us heads up on things as they happen, in our weekly update calls... But that's about it, time wise.

    1. Thank you! I think that what I've been seeing is everyone's own timelines that they add to as their milestones happen. :)
